floppy recovery .net
Floppy Recovery.net will transfer your old 5.25-inch and 3.5-inch floppy disks to CD-ROM or to the Internet for download. Convert business or personal disks via our floppy recovery service: we can recover the data on your old floppy disks, so you can access that data on modern computers, ending worries about computer compatibility, degradation, and data loss.

Users frequently need to recover word processor documents, spreadsheets, graphics files, and computer programs which are only stored on obsolete floppy disk formats, often for systems that pre-date the IBM PC. We have recovered the original drafts of books whose only digital copies were on 5.25" disks. We have also recovered digital art, business documents, computer programs, etc.

How Does It Work?

To take advantage of our floppy disk recovery service, simply fill out the form to tell us how many disks you need transferred, and what format they're in. In less than two weeks after we receive your disks, we’ll mail a CD-ROM with the recovered data, or make digital files available for download. (Choosing the download option is the quickest way to retrieve your data.) More details are in the FAQ.

Why Should I Have My Floppy Disks Converted?

There are several reasons why a business or anyone else would have old floppy disks converted to CD-ROM or downloadable digital format. The most common reason is that you want data that's on the disks, but they're incompatible with modern hardware. Your PC certainly doesn't have a 5.25" disk drive, and may not even have a 3.5" drive. Even if it did, the operating system can't read the floppy disk format from an old Apple ][ or Commodore 64 disk.

Floppy disks degrade over time. 5.25" and 3.5" disks are vulnerable to rust, dust, and other problems, even if storage conditions have been optimal.

Testimonials

"When my 30-year old Compaq Plus computer died recently, I sent Kevin Savetz the 5.25-inch floppy disk that held its backup files (a handful of BASICA programs and some mathematical data). The postal service must have set a new record for promptness in delivering the disk all the way to the opposite coast, but Mr. Savetz matched their performance. Barely four days after mailing the disk, I received an email with the recovered files. I couldn't be happier with the speed and accuracy of the recovery.  The Compaq is headed for oblivion, but the programs and data are now installed on a modern desktop computer that should see them through another decade or so."

"I greatly appreciate your effort and time.  I've been hauling these disks around with me for the past 20 years, so I was hopeful but not expectant that any useful data would be on them.  They were simply the turning point of my passion for computers, programming, and the field of IT that began when my mother (also a programmer) brought home a computer when I was 8 years old.  Those disks once contained my very first programs, so I was curious to see if there was anything still on them."
   —Heath M.

"When I wanted to archive some of my 10-year-old floppy disks from college, I had realized I had no way of doing so unless I bought an external floppy drive, which seemed like a waste of money. FloppyRecovery.net was the answer to my problem. I sent off my disks and in a matter of days I had my old files on my new computer! FloppyRecovery.net was everything I was looking for: efficient, inexpensive and reliable. I highly recommend this service to anyone looking to convert their old floppy disks."

"I have an old book which I have not read for a long long time. It came with a floppy disk (5.25") which contains lots of examples and illustrations. Recently, I read the book again and want to see the examples and the illustrations but I found I didn't have any equipment to read the disk again. I searched the Internet to see if I can find any used equipment to read 5.25" floppy disk. Fortunately, I found a better solution which is www.floppyrecovery.net. I just put my disk in a box with a check. Then, I get the data in a couple of days. If you have any data in old media needed to recover, using the service from www.floppyrecovery.net is much better than using used equipment."

"You made it possible to recover nearly 10,000 records of the azimuths of migrating butterflies, which would have otherwise been lost forever. Your service was timely and professional."

"I was desperate when I found FloppyRecovery online. I had purchased a new computer that had no floppy drive. I mailed my disk and in less than a week--Voila!! A Miracle! Thank you so much."
   —Carolyn C.

"I highly, highly recommend floppyrecovery.net. I had total cholesterol data on a 5.25" floppy that I needed for my senior research. I was concerned about sending the disk to a company for recovery, because I had heard that there were data recovery scams out there. I found this website, saw that it was BBB Certified, and decided to give it a try. The customer service, professionalism, and turn-around time was amazing — and I now have the data I need for my research."
   —Megan S.

"Years of financial data was completely recovered just 2 business days after mailing in a decades old 5 1/4" floppy. Found floppyrecovery.net to be a proficient, rapid, and reliable service."
   —Bob C.

"I recently needed to retrieve some of my academic writings from several 3.5" floppy discs dating back to 1995, the alternative being to spend a month rekeying the material from hard copies. There was no slot in my computer or any of my friends' computers that would read them. I found FloppyRecovery online, mailed them to Kevin in the States and they were resurrected and emailed back to me within days. Excellent service, super fast delivery, very competitive price."

"I finally sent off my disks to FloppyRecovery.net after holding onto them from move to move over the years - only hoping the data could be recovered. The most important ones were - old music song charts and old journals of the early years of marriage and babies. So thankful to have these treasures accessible again."
